Corinth Baptist Church
56 Years of Winning
Souls to Christ!
Church History
After much prayer, on October 2, 1955, a small group of dedicated Christians gathered in the home of Mr. and Mrs. M.J. Davis for the purpose of organizing a Baptist church in this community.  The Articles of Faith were adopted and the name Corinth Baptist Church #2 was selected.  The church would be built on land purchased from Mr. Lawrence Woodall.  There were 19 charter members, many of them gone to make their home with our Heavenly Father.

The first pastor was Rev. Johnny Honea.  He, along with his precious wife Bessie behind the scenes, was a committed, dedicated, loyal, and loving pastor for as long as his health permitted.  He was never too busy or too tired to do what needed to be done to further the kingdom of God.

In the past 55 years, we have had ten pastors, the most recent of which was the Rev. Joel Hendricks. Preacher Joel was used by God heavily here at Corinth to grow our church both spiritually and numerically. In 2009, God led Preacher Joel to a sister church in our area, and led our current pastor, Rev. Brett Myers, to Corinth in August of 2009.

We have much to be proud of as we view the history of our church.  We have had many mountain-top experiences, which proved God's faithfulness to His people; as well as some valley-experiences, which proved God's presence in the valleys of life. We have seen many changes, but God has never changed. He has remained constant in season and out of season. We have had a rich heritage as we think of those who have gone on before us and the influence that they have had on our lives, even now.

 Our Future

We have much to be proud of as we look back on the history of Corinth Baptist Church. However, it is of vital importance that we not look back at the past and miss those opportunities in the present and future. With our solid heritage of more thran 50 years of existence, we have much to build upon. Jesus Himself said "Much will be required of everyone who has been given much. And even more will be expected of the one who has been entrusted with more" (Luke 12:48).

There has never been a time in history that was more in need of godly men and women to stand up for what is biblically right. The Christian values that our nation was founded upon are nearly extinct in America's society and government today. There has never been such a blatant challenge for churches and Christians to unite and stand firm in opposition to Satan and his attacks. There is, however, one benefit that accompanies the darkness of our society and community: the light in Christians shines ever-more bright as society darkens around it. We must shine as a light reflecting the Son, and we must direct all we can to the only Savior they need, Jesus Christ.

During this time in our country, there is no better opportunity for us to be "Expanding His Kingdom"! In every step you take and every word you speak, ask yourself if what you are communicating to others matches up with our duty and priviledge as Christians to "Expand His Kingdom." May God every bit of the glory for the great things He's done here at Corinth...because He is God, and we are not.

Looking forward to the future!

Pastor Brett
